Wood Turnings
 |
Gary Brackett
I have always loved the beauty of our domestic woods and turn most of my
pieces from local trees that have been cut down or blown over from
storms. I also enjoy the exotic woods and burls from around the world,
and am amazed at the incredible beauty of many of these often unheard of
treasures. Woodturning has been around for over four thousands years and
was considered a utilitarian craft, turning pieces for food service and
storage. Today, craftsmen and artists experiment with texturing,
carving, and coloring, to further enhance the art, challenging all who
participate to explore new techniques and expand their imagination. |

John Cahall
A native of Brown County, John resides on a beautiful nature rich
property near Georgetown, Ohio. Most of his artwork is designed
from wood destined for the firebox. "I love to take a piece
of wood that no one wants and turn it into a cherished keepsake."
John is a member of the American
Association of Woodturning and the Ohio Valley Woodturners' Guild.
His work is primarily with local available wood such as Walnut, Cherry,
Cedar, Ash, Osage Orange, and Maple. One of a kind boxes,
platters, bowls, and other vessels are produced.
