Mission & Vision Statement
Maple Creek is a community of artists dedicated to keeping the heritage and traditions of Appalachia alive. Our board members, instructors, staff and volunteers hope to share this vision with as many as possible.
Mission Statement:
It is the mission of Maple Creek Artisan School to provide and maintain a traditional arts education community with a focus on nature, fostering new artists and furthering the heritage of Appalachia.
Vision Statement:
It is the vision of Maple Creek Artisan School to expand, and grow into a nationally recognized Traditional Arts School.
Maple Creek Artisan Center and Maple Creek Artisan School are dedicated to furthering the traditions of Appalachia. We strive to bring to members of our community an awareness of their cultural heritage.
We provide the community an opportunity to enrich their lives through art by attending classes and workshops in traditional Appalachian arts, as well as visiting us for exhibits and weekend events such as our July Antique Quilt Show and our Appalachian Festival in October.
Our courses include wood crafts (carving, turning and burning), pottery, blacksmithing, White Oak basketry, soap making, stained glass and more.
The weekend events we hold several times a year, such as Clay Affair, our annual pottery show, and Appalachian Festival, our fall heritage fest, allow the community to learn more about the rich history and traditions of Appalachia.
