Felting workshop
Wee Folks of the Wood (needle felting)
Who lives in these woods? In this workshop, participants will create wee figures utilizing wool fiber and basic techniques of needle-felting. No previous felting experience is necessary as we explore this process of three dimensional dry-felting. All materials and supplies will be provided. Who lives in these woods? Lets find out together!

Beginning Weaving
Students are introduced to weaving on a four-harness loom. How to plan a project, cut the warp, thread the loom and beam the warp (both front-to-back and sectional methods) are covered. Participants learn terminology, how to keep a weaving notebook, sources of yarn, weaving techniques, types of looms and how to choose the right tools for a project. Students will create a simple sampler of weave patterns: plain weave, twill, herringbone and others.

Time: 14 hours over 2 days
Bog Jacket
The simple bog jacket design has been used for thousands of years. The single seam makes this piece a quick and easy top you can decorate any way you like. Students must bring a sewing machine (and know how to use it), scissors, tape measurer, pins and 11/2 -2 yards of fabric.
As this is a long class, please bring a lunch.

Colonial Overshot
Students create a sampler of Overshot patterns using a four-harness loom. Students must have a loom that can be transported to the school. Looms must have 8, 10 or 12 dent reed. A working knowledge of looms and weaving terminology is also required.

Time: 15 Hours over 2 Days
Dye Class
Cotton, linen, tencel, rayon and chenille can be easily dyed using this method and fiber reactive dyes. Bring plant fiber yarns, a bib apron (or old shirt) and a bucket or medium-sized plastic container. A limited amount of yarn will be available for purchase, please let us know if you intend to purchase yarn at the workshop.

Handmade Journal & Box
Explore the process of handmade books. We will make a journal and learn hand-sewn bookbinding techniques. Your journal will be covered with beautiful decorative papers and then we will build a box to keep it in. Please bring cutting mat, x-acto knife, and metal ruler. Supplies provided.

Needle Felting
In this workshop you will create sculptural critters using a barbed needle and wool. We will build an armature, wrap it in merino, corridale, and alpaca wool, then needle felt it to form a sheep. Instructions are provided to felt birds and other animals. Supplies provided.

Paper Making with Plant Fibers
We'll take day lilies, hosta leaves, and onion skins to "pull" unique handmade papers. Learn to make vegetable papyrus and just what a mold and deckle can do. Materials provided. Please pack a lunch.

Primitive Rug Hooking
This is a craft born out of necessity for warmth in the early homes. The craft is done by using 100% wool strips hooked on to a backing. Using an open hook, not a latch hook. Please bring: scissors, felt tip pen, 12" or 14" round hoop. Please pack a lunch.
