Artists

Sherry Mummert
Sherry Mummert weaves beautiful blankets, scarves, throws, rugs, and more. She graciously passes on her knowledge and tricks of the trade to her students. She will teach you to warp the loom, how read a pattern, create your own, and more at the Maple Creek Artisan School.

Nancy Withers
Nancy Withers' pine needle baskets, bog jackets and more are on display in our gallery. In addition, she teaches courses through the Maple Creek Artisan School.

Clothing/Quilts

Making your own blankets and clothes wasn't just a necessity in early Appalachia, it was an art. Today we appreciate the skill and vision needed to create such beautiful pieces. Clothing does more than just cover us up and keep us warm, it makes a statement of our style.

Quilts may seem like simple blankets, but the complex patterns and stitching make these true works of art. Join us in July for our Antique Quilt show.

Weaving

Making your own scarves, blankets and such has always been a part of Appalachian culture. Explore this art of functional handmade pieces in our gallery.
