Raku Workshop
The ancient Japanese style of Raku is named after the location in Japan where the method began. A potter will typically, hand build a piece, rather than use a potter's wheel. The piece is fired using low temperatures, removed while still hot and plunged into water for rapid cooling.
In this workshop you learn how to glaze and fire using this very short firing and cooling process. We do work with open flame in this class; please wear close-toed shoes, no loose fitting clothing, and keep hair tied back.
