As a self-taught artist, Steve began his career building log and timber frame homes.  Many of his clients began asking for special things to put into their homes.  So what began as a hobby in woodworking soon grew.  Steve has expanded his company, Wolfhaus, Ltd. to include Wolfhaus Handcrafted Originals as the cabinetry, furniture, and door division.  Steve especially likes to use the antique woods re-sawn from barn beams.  Steve says, "the character of the old wood makes each piece of furniture unique."   Steve is now creating heirloom quality furniture that all will appreciate for many years to come.
Kentucky native Mike Angel had been interested in woodworking for years but only took it up earnestly after retiring from a fascinating career.

After serving in the U.S. Marine Corps in the early 1960s, Mike worked as a trooper with the Kentucky State Police out of Pikeville, Kentucky. In 1970, he became a special agent for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms of the U.S. Treasury Department and, during his career, was stationed in a variety of cities throughout the United States.

In 1987 Mike seriously injured his leg during a drug raid and he returned to Kentucky to recuperate at his parents' home. During this time, he refinished some hickory-bottom chairs that his grandfather had made years before. This project inspired Mike to study old-fashioned Appalachian designs, and experiment with woodworking techniques that led to making hickory-bottom chairs from scratch.

Jim McGie is a one-of-a-kind Appalachian Craftsman who creates unique family heirlooms.  Jim is one of only a handful of craftsmen who still work using only traditional hand tools.  Jim's award-winning rockers are the centerpieces of many collections, including the permanent collection of the Tennessee State Museum.  Each piece is signed and dated by the artist.  Jim works hard at keeping alive the old ways of the Appalachian craftsman, emphasizing both traditional woodworking techniques and the creative spirit of country living.
